On Saturday, March 6th, the King of Hoops hosted an ALL DAY basketball tournament at Fair Oaks Recreation Center in Marietta.

Represented at this event were six of the strongest men's teams in the ATL. Atlanta's top two men's teams showed up, Dirty South BBQ coached by Anthony "Tick "Jones

and Queen City coached by Antonius "AB" Barnes. Both teams brought their usual "hired guns", Dirty South having Tony Rutland- formally of Wake Forest and Queen City featured Dion Glover, formally of GA TECH and the Atlanta Hawks. "Dion being a regular to the Southern Classic events played some of the best ball I have seen him play in years." said Mike Reckord. “He was extremely difficult

to guard on the offensive end."

Another exciting team that participated was Fastbreak; an up and coming team named as Mike's

pick to replace one of the top Atlanta teams in the coming years. This young team has an amazing chemistry and play extremely well together flaunting an aggressive and electrifying style of play. “Any tournament looking for a fresh new team to bring strong competition we would recommend them.” says Mike. Other teams included Decatur Stars coached by Chris Cook and The Headhunters coached by Young Steven Birchfield.

At the end of the day it came down to Queen City and Dirty South BBQ in the finals playing

for the trophy and a set of Nike uniforms. With Dirty South being lead by Anthony Jones last year’s Southern Classic MVP and Rollie Smith they proved to be a little too deep for Queen City this time around.

Coach Jones was so happy after the win he offered the Reckord family free BBQ for the next year

at his restaurant Dirty South BBQ 122 Cleveland Ave in Atlanta.
